| Youth raisers ages 9-18
may join 4-H and raise their puppy as a 4-H project. Each year in
July 4-H youth enter their project in the County Fair. Entries include
a project book with a story and a poster or
scrapbook describing one aspect of the puppy raising project. Entrants
may also participate in an interview with the judges about their
project.
(At this time there is no Guide Dog project at the state level, so
winning entries do not go on to the state fair). Winners receive
recognition at the 4-H Awards night from both Arapahoe County and Guide
Dogs for the
Blind, and may be eligible to apply for 4-H and Guide Dog scholarships.
Our raisers' posters are displayed throughout the year whenever we do
educational programs. The stories are published in our newsletter,
the Puppy
Pipeline. |

PROJECT TIPS from Carmen Moyer If you are a 4-H raiser, it’s always time to think about next year’s project. Wouldn’t it be great to avoid the last minute scramble to re-create data from an entire year of puppy raising? The trick is to keep good records all year round, as the events occur. Learning to keep accurate records is a life-long tool toward successful living. Here are a few tips to get you started:
