With the recent water-landing of the plane in the Hudson River, our puppy raisers were eager to find out how to handle an in-flight emergency if they were flying with their dog--so our already-planned outing to United Airlins Fight simulator couldn't have come at a better time! Nearly 40 raisers and 20 puppies visited the United Airlines flight training center, which includes cabin and escape shoot simulators where airline personnel can practice emergency procedures in a realistic setting. UA Personnel treated our group to a tour, safety talk, and a "flight" in the cabin simulator, complete with emergency evacuation. CNN was so interested, they came and filmed the outing for their website! Not all our puppies will have a chance to fly during their time in the raiser's home, so this was an exceptional opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of air travel in a controlled environment. Raisers learned about emergency procedures, with an emphasis on special needs passengers and service dogs. Everyone agreed it was a fabulous opportunity and we had a great time!  Thanks, United!

STARTING THE FLIGHT RIGHT
Everyone got visitor passes, even the puppies!

NOW BOARDING, ALL ROWS

Caroline and her sidekick mind the gap.

Carmen helps Ludden tuck under the seat at her feet.

Simone would rather cuddle up on Nancy's lap.

It's hard to tuck when you're ba big boy like Draeger!

EMERGECY RAMP AND RAFT

Obviously, the puppies weren't sent down the emergency shoot,
but we got to see it and get an idea what it is like.

The pilots answered all our questions and explained everything.

Draeger is ready for anything.
